In an effort to better serve the community, the Playhouse has undertaken
a project to make the theater accessibile to persons with disabilities.
Today, everyone is aware of individual needs.
We at the Playhouse are especially concerned about people
who have not been able to enjoy all that we offer because our theater,
the original Summit Library Association Building, built in 1891, is not ADA compliant.
We are remedying that situation by installing a lift to take patrons
from the street to the lobby and from the lobby to the room downstairs
where we have our social gatherings.
We are also adding a restroom right off the lobby.
Fund Raising
Since 2001 we have been seeking the funding needed to realize
our dream of making our building accessible to all.
Our efforts have not been in vain.
We have raised most of the money we need by holding three fundraisers,
soliciting donations from individuals and businesses, applying for grants
and "selling" brick pavers for our Pathway to Accessibility.
