Who's Who in Two By Two Vincent Balzano (Ham) has appeared and disappeared many times. He was recently privileged to perform the title role in George M! for the Summit Centennial Celebration and this past summer directed You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown for the Playhouse's Kaleidoscope Theater for Youth. In a previous life, Vince has directed and/or acted in scores of regional, summer stock and local NYC showcase productions. Some of his favorites include How To Succeed... (Finch), Carousel (Jigger), A View From The Bridge (Marco), Guys And Dolls (Nathan), A Funny Thing.... (Pseudolus), and Arms and the Man (Sergius). In the bio for his first play (George Gibbs in Our Town), performed at a little theatre in the west village of NYC at the age of 16, he stated that "he hopes some day to act and direct well into the next millennium." Boy, time flies!! Margareth de Jesus (Leah) first appeared on state as Maria in The Sound of Music. She has also performed at Plays-in-the-Park in Edison, NJ in the King & I. As a member of the New Jersey State Opera, Ms. de Jesus has performed in Don Carlo, Turandot, Andrea Chenier, Carmen, Aida and Tosca. She made her operatic debut as the Lady in Waiting in Macbeth at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ. This is Margareth's debut with the Summit Playhouse and she is honored to be playing the role of Leah. She would like to thank her friends for their support and her family for their understanding and strength. Thank you & xoxo to all! Randy Hertzog (Noah), a liturgical musician by trade, is currently the organist and choirmaster at Holy Family Church in Florham Park, and has served as musical director/director for theaters and repertory companies throughout the NY/NJ area. After graduation from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he continued his work on the other side of the footlights in such roles as: Pseudolus in A Funny Thing, Harold Hill in The Music Man, Littlechap in Stop the World, Algernon in The Importance Of Being Earnest, The Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance, and Anthony in Sweeney Todd. Randy feels fortunate to be making his debut with the Summit Playhouse in this role, and thanks his friends and parish community for their constant encouragement and support. Carolyn Murphy (Rachel) is making her first appearance at The Playhouse. Elsewhere, she has appeared as Rapunzel in Into the Woods, Pegeen in Mame, Peppermint Patty in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Annie in Annie. She has a BA in Psychology from the University of Delaware and resides in Bridgewater. She would like to thank her family for their love and support. Juli Plott (Goldie) has been a frequent backstage contributor to the Summit Playhouse but is making her stage debut. Her previous credits include Robin in Godspell, and a movie role in England. David Rappaport (Japheth) recently appeared as Benny Benson in the original production of Isaac's Window. During the past three summers he performed at Plays-in-the-Park as Sir Edward Ramsey in The King and I, Albert Lennox in The Secret Garden and Zoltan Karpathy in My Fair Lady. Other favorite roles include Max Detweiller in The Sound of Music and Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie. When not on stage, David is General Counsel for Gruntal & Co., L.L.C., a national broker-dealer/investment bank. Many thanks to his wonderful family for their support. Nancy Lee Ryan (Esther) is delighted to be making her first appearance at the Summit Playhouse. Last seen Off Broadway in Passing Conversations at the John Houseman Theatre and Mixed Nuts at the Duplex, she has starred regionally in musical and dramatic roles. Some favorites: Ballroom (Bea), Unsinkable Molly Brown (Molly), Irene (Irene), Come Back, Little Sheba (Lola), Plaza Suite (3 women), On Golden Pond (Ethel), and most recently at the Bickford as Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit. She was the familiar voice of the Abraham and Straus department store for 14 years, and has been heard in over 6500 TV and radio commercials for major advertisers, as well as narrated industrial films and documentaries, including Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty, and The Brooklyn Bridge. She is a graduate of Seton Hall University and studied musical comedy at Herbert Berghof Studios and voice with Margarety Leary. John Vicich (Shem) is making his first appearance with the Summit Playhouse. He has appeared in and directed several productions in Manhattan, Queens, and surrounding areas, including nightclub revues for resort hotels, and with the USO in Vietnam. Favorite roles have been in Mass Appeal, A Little Night Music, West Side Story, Company, and On the 20th Century. Most recently he directed Butterflies Are Free for Theatre a la Carte on Long Island, starring his daughter. He has also directed An Inspector Calls, Cactus Flower, California Suite, Funny Girl, Applause, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Rose Pancirov (Director), actor/director of over 50 plays in the past 35 years, returns to the Playhouse where she directed two critically acclaimed productions, Crimes of the Heart and It's Only a Play. Since recently directing The Odd Couple and Blithe Spirit at the Bickford Theatre and Moon Over Buffalo for the Florham Park Player, Rose is doing what she loves best, a musical. Though an interior designer by profession, theatre has been her first love since her debut singing and dancing at Brooklyn's Coney Island at eighteen months old. Would Mom and Dad lie? Bill Houpt (Musical Director) teaches piano lessons in the Summit area and has been musical director for many musicals performed in New Jersey and Staten Island. Recent productions include Into the Woods and Falsettos at Drew University and Nunsense at Florham Park. His productions at the Playhouse Association of Summit include A Grand Night for Singing, Gypsy, Side by Side by Sondheim, and 1940's Musical Hour. Bill helps with the music program at the Summit Speech School and is musical director for the Larks, a women's singing group, which is sponsored by the Junior League of Summit. Myung Kim-Bondy (Choreographer) has worked with various companies and choreographers as a principal dancer and choreographer, such as Dan Sloan & Co. and The Soho Group. More recently, she was a featured dancer in the Summit production of George M! and choreographer for the SMS production of Bye Bye Birdie and Theatre Works!! Myung is currently a choreographer, teacher and director of dance at The Connection for Women and Families. She has studied at the Boston Conservatory of Music, N.Y. School of Ballet, Steps on Broadway, and the Broadway Dance Center. Nina Deutz (Assistant Director), our current treasurer, takes her turn as assistant director. Previous Playhouse credits include The Silver Whistle, and assisting the director in Arms and the Man and Summer and Smoke. An active choral singer, Nina sings with the Concord Singers and the Calvary Chorale. Frank M. Hawrusik (Co-Producer) usually contributes backstage as stage manager but is thrilled to be producing his first play. Frank's other backstage credits include Arsenic and Old Lace, Brighton Beach Memoirs, and The Heiress. Nancy Gurley (Co-Producer) is lending her talents to her third production, previously producing Brighton Beach Memoirs and A Grand Night for Singing. Nancy has also assisted on costumes and props for various shows. A Playhouse board member, Nancy is our entertainment chairperson. Production Staff Frank Hawrusik and Nancy Gurley are the producers. Linn Smith and John Luckstone are the stage managers. Roy Pancirov is designing and constructing the set, Catherine Hawrusik is painting it, and Bill Roome will bring light and sound to the production. Lee Ryden and Joan Ludwig will handle costumes, Geraldine Zoccoli and Catherine Hawrusik will gather and oversee props, and Ali Campbell will apply makeup. Ken Smith is in charge of photography and publicity. |
