From Our 2003-2004 Season:
Who's Who in
“Dinner With Friends”

John Correll (Gabe) has appeared at many local theatres over the years. His favorite roles include Felix in The Odd Couple, Jake in Jake's Women, Chandler Tate in Comic Potential, John Honeyman in A Walk in the Woods, Fr. Rivard in The Runner Stumbles, Bill Ray in On Golden Pond, Jeff in Two on the Aisle, Three in a Van. John would like to thank Kate Schlesinger for giving him the opportunity to be in this wonderful show with such a talented cast. Thanks also to John, Jr. & Ryan for their love and support, his lovely and talented wife Linda (with God all things are possible, but with out you, Linda, nothing would be worth having), and God for everything.

Joni Fritz (Beth) has appeared in such roles as Myrtle in Morning's at Seven, Pegeen in The Playboy of the Western World, Miriam in The Women, and Jackie in Hayfever. Her film/television credits include Mary Duffy in the PBS production of The Molders of Troy, Christine in the film Fat Chance - as well as innumerable television and radio commercials. As a writer, Joni wrote comedy material for USA Network's Commander USA for over three years, as well as the syndicated series, Horrible Night at the Movies - and has created over a hundred films, videos and live shows for major Fortune 500 companies. Most recently, her play Girl's Room was selected to be part of Ensemble Studio Theatre's Octoberfest of new plays.

Sharon Garry (Karen) has appeared in many productions throughout New Jersey, including Doris in The Loman Family Picnic, Mac in Three Viewings, Gina in First Light Home, and numerous Theater Cafes at Twelve Miles West Theater Company. She has also performed with the "What Exit?" Theater Company in Maplewood in Miracle on 34th Street, and It's A Wonderful Life, and the Forum Theater in Metuchen in A Shayna Maidel. Sharon holds a BA in Speech/Theater from Montclair State, and currently coaches for Steve Adubato's Stand and Deliver, a public speaking program for teens. She would like to thank Michael and Corey for their love and support.

Jeff Maschi (Tom) studied theatre at Cornell University and has appeared in countless productions throughout the Metropolitan area. Jeff recently performed on the Playhouse stage as John Proctor in our production of The Crucible last fall. Some of his previous roles include Sgt. Toomey in Biloxi Blues, Pale in Burn This, Roma in Glengarry Glen Ross, Glenn Griffin in The Desperate Hours, Ray in Lone Star, Lou in Speed of Darkness, and Eddie Carbone in A View From the Bridge. In New Jersey, Jeff has acted with the 12 Miles West, What Exit?, and Alliance theatre companies, and he is a founding member of N.Y. based Bon Bock productions.

STAFF

Kate Schlesinger (Director) has an MA in Theatre Education from New York University. She has directed nine other plays at The Playhouse: The Diary of Anne Frank, Prelude to a Kiss, The Heiress and The Waverly Gallery, among others. Kate has also directed numerous plays at Twelve Miles West in Montclair, a one act in Jersey Voices at Chatham Players, Picasso at the Lapin Agile at The Alliance Theatre in Bloomfield and two plays at The Bickford in Morristown: On Golden Pond and Our Town, for which she was nominated Best Director in New Jersey at The Star Ledger. But the Summit Playhouse is "home," and she is deeply grateful to both cast and crew and appreciates them more than words can say!

Betty Kaus (Co-Producer), a member of The Playhouse since 1950, has been President three times, has directed fifteen plays, has appeared in several, and has been active on the House and Grounds Committee.

P. T. Kizzia (Co-Producer), a graduate of Northwestern's School of Communication, has produced many shows and done a little bit of everything backstage and around the Playhouse since 1961. Her jobs on the Board have been Secretary, Membership, President and Historian. She thinks the members are great and is proud of the Playhouse's reputation for high quality theatre.

Alan Danzis (Publicity) is a recent graduate from Loyola College in Maryland and now works as an Assistant Account Executive at Spector and Associates, a PR-firm in NYC. As an aspiring writer, his short stories have appeared in print and in over seven online e-zines. He has also had letters to the editor published in The Daily News, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Post, Newsday, and Stuff Magazine. He wishes all the best to the cast: "it has been a pleasure telling the whole community about the wonderful production I've had the pleasure of seeing grow."

George Doherty (Stage Manager) has been Stage Manager for The Heiress, The Waverly Gallery and Wit, and has worked on many other productions at the Summit Playhouse. He lives in Chatham with his wife, Robbi Curtis.

Frank Hawrusik (Stage Manager) returns to his usual backstage role of stage manager, after recently producing Is There Life after High School? Frank's other backstage credits include Arsenic and Old Lace, Moon Over Buffalo, and The Crucible.

Tamara Nedjar (Assistant Director), a Boston native, moved to New Jersey four years ago after receiving her Bachelor's degree from Cornell University. She has worked on several productions with The Summit Playhouse, both onstage and off, since her return to theater two years ago. Her latest project, Off Stage Films, is preparing to shoot their first film, The Aggie, this May. Tamara also trains with Miss Debbi's School of Dance in Summit, where she has had the opportunity to both choreograph and perform in several numbers. In between performances, she has earned a Master's Degree at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Bill Roome (Lighting & Sound) was last seen on-stage in our fall production of The Crucible. His previous on-stage appearances include It's Only A Play, Beau Jest, Play On, and Man Of La Mancha. Off-stage, he has done lighting and/or sound for many of our recent productions, and he also maintains the Playhouse web site and has designed many of our programs and posters. Off-off-stage, he is owned by four cats. His cats have finally forgiven him for purchasing a laptop computer, once they realized that modern laptop computers are far too warm to actually use on human laps.

Ken Smith (Photography) started photographic activities for the Playhouse six years ago, after many years' experience as a photojournalist and in still and motion picture production. Commercial and portrait activities, supplemented by forty years as a Navy/Naval Reserve photographer, further honed his talents. His additional Playhouse activities include public relations, set construction and stage manager.

Mike Tatlow (Set Construction) has been a long time subscriber to the Playhouse. He volunteered to help in the construction of the set for The Heiress in 2001 and joined the Playhouse Association shortly thereafter. He has assisted in the construction of the Playhouse sets for the last three years. He lives in Summit with his wife Kathy.

Geraldine Zoccoli (Properties) is called by some the "Queen of Props." She has been doing props for a long time and finds the challenge beyond compare. Some of the other hats she has worn are set decoration, ushering, costumes and even producing Arsenic and Old Lace and debuting on the playhouse stage in Charlotte's Web. Gerry would like to thank Maureen, John, Dawn and her grandsons for all their support.
